Don Cerra, President of Cerra Homes, comes   from a family of builders.  Constructing architecturally-detailed custom homes that are energy efficient has been the focus of his professional life.  He started building green - and encouraging homeowners to consider green alternatives- in the 1970's

1986- First builder in N.J. to build an R-2000 super insulated home prompting Owens-Corning to re-write their energy audit standards.

1990-  Won the "Good Cents" award from N.J.P.&L.

2002 and 2003- Presenter at PATH and LEED seminars.

1999 - 2005-  Green building implementation for Habitat for Humanity.

Also, thanks so much for spending time with Spencer and me, showing us your approach to building a home.  You altered my perspective on what green building is about.  I think I had a notion that it was about subscribing to a checklist… a model such as LEED or EarthCraft.  I am starting to get that it is about a mind set – building a better home, one that is more efficient and healthier for the people living in it.  There is no checklist for the combination of best practices, technologies, and third party services that you have assembled from this mind set and your experience.  Thanks Don.  I am looking forwarding to working with you on this project.
